Most of the newly acquired kit is Grip equipment. It ain’t cheap, but I have learned the value of rock solid Grip equipment. It’s not something to be compromised on, especially with very expensive Profoto heads on top of it. I’ve almost become obsessed with grip recently, having watched loads of videos on You Tube learning all about the different types of grip equipment from stands to the myriad of connectors grip heads, booms in a sea of accessories.
All the new kit and I have purchased for their project is really robust solid gear all served well for many years to come it's a really sound investment to buy good grip equipment giving you absolute solidity with every setup knowing that the gear is going to stay in place where you want it to and also there additional safety that you get from rock solid grip. A few more items to arrive in the next couple of weeks just to finalise the inventory for now.
The two particular brands that I’ve been very taken by are Kupo and Avenger both who make really robust products but will last a lifetime.
So with all this new Grip in place, we now have the shooting space all set up. I've taken some pictures of the in-house setup it can be seen in a little gallery.
We did our very first shoot under the new project name today. As we were ready to Rock & Roll, we used that as a theme. Photos are courtesy of a local Photographer Richard Drew. You won’t nor mally find me in front of the camera, but I wanted some pictures of myself with long hair before I get it cut.
We have loads of musical props in the studio with countless guitars, some amps and keyboards. All available to use is a musical theme is what you are looking to do.
Though we have two complete ecosystems of equipment will focusing very much on the Profoto gear at the moment. we do also have a large inventory Bowens equipment which is great because of its universal S mount, gives such a wide variety of option for light modifiers. we've got two Bowens generator packs with eight heads and a ring flash though also runs off the generator packs. lots of mount light modifiers mostly hard modifiers some soft boxes as well.
People who come along to our sessions are free to use whatever equipment they prefer rough familiar with. more people are likely to be familiar with the Bowens but the Profoto offers superb quality of light total reliability and absolute consistency shot after shot after shot.
One of the events that we're going to do in the near future is an introduction to Profoto which will probably be 1/2 day session people can come along see the extensive range of pro photo gear that we have get a chance to shoot using all the different gear.
